New Look Unveiled

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

The wait is finally over.

We are delighted to present the new look for our deluxe rooms. Luxurious beds, spacious living area and designer furniture pieces are just some of the features designed to enhance our brand and to provide more comfort to our guests. The new Bintan Lagoon Resort deluxe room merges modern local Indonesian touches seamlessly with latest contemporary requirements of modern business and leisure travelers, created by an in-house team spearheaded by designer, Richard Ho.

Kevin Rozario, a freelance travel and aviation journalist, who visited the mock up new room left the resort saying, “The design revamp brings a fresh contemporary feel to Bintan Lagoon Resort and adds a touch of modernity to the rooms without losing their charm. Thanks to the subtle, muted colour scheme, and dark woods for the furniture, the feeling is warm and inviting, not stark and sterile like many hotel rooms we see today.”

The management and staff are very encouraged by the positive and encouraging responses we received so far. We are confident that our new rooms will offer a fantastic stay for our visiting guests.

Bintan Lagoon Resort Heralds The Arrival Of Its New Club Manager

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Indonesia’s finest golf resort, Bintan Lagoon Resort (“BLR”) heralds the arrival of its new Club Manager.  Mr. Mark Steele Isley, a golf veteran with more than 25 years experience will lead the Club Management of the resort’s two 18-holes championship golf courses, Jack Nicklaus, and Ian Baker-Finch.

“I am honored to join BLR, it is an absolutely superb golf venue rated amongst the best in Asia.  Golfers come from all over the world to play on our two golf courses.  Both golf courses are carved right out of a pristine jungle with stunning panoramic views of the South China Sea. They are a golfer’s dream come true.  I am very proud to be here and I hope that my previous experience within the golf industry will be of great contribution to the resort.  We have a great group of people working here who have made me feel very welcome.  So far, the members that I have met care tremendously about the resort and they have all offered me their support and willingness to help.  That’s a great a feeling,” commented Mr. Isley, the newly appointed Golf Club Manager of Bintan Lagoon Resort on 10 June 2008.

An avid golfer himself, Mr. Isley will not only be overseeing the two-designer  18 hole courses, but also its golf club and Pro-shop.  He is responsible for 180 staff who maintain the high standard courses, golf facilities and take good care of its 1,000 golf members and 30,000 yearly visitors.

“Mark brings with him not only his wealth of experience in golf course, golf club and tournament but also a great deal of passion.  I am confident he will build on the excellent reputation of Bintan Lagoon Resort,” said Mr. Robert Ramey, Group General Manager of 3 Degrees Hospitality Pte Ltd, the holding company of Bintan Lagoon Resort.

Prior to joining the resort, the 46-year-old American golf enthusiast has a long distinguished career with high-profile golf resorts in Bali and Florida.  Mr. Isley began his career as Golf Course Superintendent at Bali Golf and Country Club in 1990. From there, he worked his way up to Director of Golf Course Maintenance, followed by General Manager of the Common Area Services Department. In 1999, Mr. Isley was promoted to General Manager overseeing two properties, Bali Golf and Country Club and Watilan Golf Villas Bali.  Under his leadership, Bali Golf and Country Club was chosen to be one of Asia’s 5 best golf courses by Fortune Magazine, USA.

Before graduating with Summa cum Laude achievement in Associate of Science in Golf Course Operations, Lake City Community College, Florida in 1990, he built his professional development in Indian Pines Golf Club, Rockledge Country Club and Suntree Country Club.  All of the clubs are located in Florida, USA.

Mark was also a guest speaker at the 1998 Golf Asia Show sharing on topics such as ‘Wildlife Habitat Management and How to Manage a Successful Composting Program’.  Mark is also a scholarship recipient of the prestigious Florida Turfgrass Association and Central Florida Superintendents’ Association.
